A couple of wins under our belt so far, this weekend promises to be a tougher battle as the Saints go up against North Shore at Onepoto. Players to be at the ground no later than 1pm.
With a lot of new players joining us this year and a couple of our stars about to head over to Australia for the International Cup, we're going to have a few drinks this Sunday (Aug 3) from 4:30pm at the Zookeeper's Son in Royal Oak
Pre-season training with Head Coach Peter Boyce, starts this Sunday 20th July, 10:30am at May Road. Bring your boots, it's footy season again.
Massive congratulations to the Saints lads who made the NZ Hawks team: Michael Boyce, James Roughan and Sam McKenzie. Fantastic work boys!!!
Saints AGM this Thursday Feb 27th at Vector Arena at 7pm. All players and club members welcome - show your support for the mighty Saints and help us have an even better and stronger 2014.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all club members and their families. We hope you enjoy the holidays, and here's to a fantastic 2014.
Unfortunately we couldn't quite do it yesterday in the Grand Final, and although it was close and the lead changed quite a few times, the Magpies were able to finish strongly and take the 2013 premiership flag.
Last club training tonight and the Grand Final this weekend! With a player breakfast to start the day and the awards night afterward, Sunday is going to be huge. We look forward to seeing all our supporters at Onepoto from 2pm.
Congratulations to our players selected to represent Auckland in the upcoming NPC Tournament: Michael Boyce, Taylor Alaelua, Callum McLean, Matt Kemp, James Roughan, Gray Samuels, James McKenzie and Sam McKenzie. Also well done to James, Dwayne and Boycey for outstanding performances in the B&F vote count.
In a decisive victory over Uni last weekend, the Saints finished top of the AAFL ladder. As 2013's Minor Premiers we go straight through to the Grand Final on Sunday 1st Dec. This Sunday we don't have an official game, but will be training at May Road from 12pm having a practice match and keeping the pressure on, ready for the biggest game of the year!
The Saints haven't played the Magpies since Round 1 which is a real shame, as the crowd were treated to a hard-fought battle on Sunday. The Saints lead by mere points for three quarters but were smashed wide open in the fourth to end up losing by 22 points. The coaches have identified the areas we'll be working on, and for the few remaining trainings left this year attendance will be mandatory - see you there!
A good solid second half really put the Tigers away yesterday. Best players were Brunty, Luke and James R with a lot of others really stepping up. Some of the lads helped the Barbarians out in the second game and 107-year-old Brian Twitchett even got a goal!
It's been a couple of fairly straight forward wins for the Saints in the last couple of weeks. With a bye this weekend for Labour Day long weekend, the boys from Roskill have some tough games coming up leading into finals.
After a week off watching the pros in the AFL Grand Final, the Saints came out with all guns blazing against North Shore on the weekend. In the final quarter Coach Callum made some controversial position changes and the forwards soon realised what an awesome job the backs do week after week. The tigers were goal-less until the final term, and our stalwart backs, Jesse and Booker, both snagged a goal or two.
A great second half on Sunday locked Uni out of the game, the boys really worked well together and put together a decisive victory.
Training is on tonight - 6pm at May Road - bring on a bit of wind and rain for the last non-daylight savings session - see you down there.
Early game this week! Sunday 10:45 at Colin Maiden Park against Uni's B team.
